The Seattle Seahawks began play in the NFL in 1976, as one of the first expansion teams after the AFL-NFL merger. For most of the franchise's history, the Seahawks were just another team and didn't experience much success. Seattle qualified for the playoffs just five times prior to the year 2000, but the Seahawks' fortunes changed quickly thereafter.
The Seahawks have been to three Super Bowls since 2005, winning the NFC title in 2005, 2013 and 2014! Seattle won its first-ever Super Bowl in 2013, when the Seahawks crushed the Denver Broncos 43-8!
Seattle followed up its Super Bowl-winning season with another trip to the Super Bowl, but the Seahawks lost to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX.
